Wow! There is a lot of new things to report.
First of all, what do you think of this newsletter format, hey? It probably looks a little weird at points because I don't know how to use it very well, and every time I change something something else happens. Kinda like life, huh? Anyway, we can make it look a lot better than this with pics and stuff once someone learns how to use it all. Kristen got a tutorial, but we need more people to experiment with this baby and learn how to use it. Anyone? Anyone?
Darcy Smalley and Jenny Larson have already relocated to Decorah, gotten jobs, and are building into people's lives!! Pray for these young warriors as they pave the way for the rest of the team. Darcy is staying at the house we hope to buy (1002 Woodside) and Jenny is living with Courtney.
Who is Courtney? She is one of three people who professed faith in Christ over the summer! Courtney, along with Todd and Kerry, believed on Christ and have been joining us for our "church in the park" service and other activities. If you haven't met them already, make a point of it to do so and give them a big hug (the Norwegian equivalent to a "holy kiss"... Russians do that, not Norwegians).
Adam and Sara Bauer are planning to make the big move up North in September. Adam on Sept. 5 and Sara by the end of the month. Adam still needs a job and is praying that by taking this step of faith God will open the waters and a job with come through. Pray with him for that.
And lastly our website is really coming along. Since we launched it, we've had over 200 visitors. After the home page and news & events, salvation is the most visited page. Praise God for that and pray that His Word will bear fruit. We will continue to build this site with more pages and content. Some of the pages will be real fun like a game room and a garage.
In Decorah, we are continuing to meet at Phelps park every Sunday at 11am until the weather gets icky. And, like during the summer, we will eat massive quantities afterward. Also, Jenny has a Bible study for women going on. If you want in on that, give her a call (563-419-5619).
In Ames, our lifegroup will start tonight (and every Tuesday) at 7pm. Since most of my belongings are in Decorah, meeting at the Borseth house would not be the most comfortable. So we will meet at the large classroom in the Stonebrook building until a home opens up for us. We have the nursery room reserved too if the kids prefer to hang there. I hope to see all the Ames people tonight because we have lots of stuff to get caught up on.
One of the biggest thing to get planned is our next Weekend Warrior Trip to Decorah. We are planning on heading north over the Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5-7). The rough plan is a service project on Sat. (including moving the Bauer's stuff), church in the park on Sunday + possibly more service, and a fun/ relaxing event on Monday.
Jenny Rohrssen, a sister from Stonebrook in Ames who is from Cresco and has been visiting our church in the park while serving her parents, suffered the death of her dad on Sunday. Pray for her and her family while they deal with the pain of this enemy in God's originally perfect world.
Here's some details that Jenny shared:
My dad, Paul Seifried, passed away yesterday at about 9:30 a.m. The staff noticed that after breakfast his breathing was becoming more shallow and they put him on oxygen. Shortly afterward, Mom came in for her usual visit with Dad. Dad looked at her and shortly afterwards passed away. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco, Iowa. The Funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Notre Dame Church in Cresco, Iowa. The church will open at 9:30 for visitation. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers during the last few months. They are appreciated.
Sincerely,
LifeHouse Church
